Online Faculty Development Program (OFD)
CAPC requires faculty members to participate in this Teaching and Learning Center training program before obtaining their CAPC Training Credential and teaching a distance education course.
Individual Consultation & Drop-In Hours
Individual Consultation
Each faculty member at WCU is assigned an Instructional Designer, with whom the TLC offers individual consultation. To set up a consultation, reach out directly to your assigned Instructional Designer. Contact information for all TLC staff can be found on the About Us page of this website.
If you are not sure who your assigned Instructional Designer is, please email us at tlc@wcupa.edu to get connected with them!
Drop-In Hours
The TLC offers both in-person and virtual drop-in hours during which faculty can meet with one of our associate instructional designers for one-on-one support, with no appointment necessary! Our designers can assist with designing courses for any modality, creating and revising learning activities and assessments, selecting and incorporating instructional technology, and adhering to accessibility standards. Check out the Drop-In Hours page of our website for the most up-to-date hours and locations. We look forward to working with you!
New Faculty Programming
New Faculty Orientation (NFO) is a program for new tenure-track and adjunct faculty members which runs annually with primary orientation days taking place in August and supplemental sessions running through the Fall Semester. Visit the NFO page of this website for a complete schedule and additional information.
The Program for Effective Teaching and Learning (PETAL) is a collaborative and supportive faculty development program to promote innovative, effective, evidence-based teaching for all students, in and out of the classroom.
Faculty Mentoring Program
Building and sustaining a mentoring culture on a higher education campus has been shown to play a critical role in faculty retention and success. The Faculty Mentoring Program (FMP), established in 2008, is open to all part-time and full-time academic and administrative faculty, as defined by the most recent CBA. The FMP offers three targeted programs to support faculty at every career stage: new full-time tenure-track faculty, faculty desiring to seek promotion, and adjunct faculty.
Faculty Learning Communities
Faculty learning communities (FLCs) provide a space for educators to engage with an interdisciplinary group of peers over an extended period. They provide a platform for meaningful collaboration, peer learning, and support for enhancing teaching practice.
