Book and POdcast Clubs
Most semesters, the Committee for Excellence in Learning and Teaching (CELT) selects one book related to teaching and learning and hosts a monthly book club. Some semesters, the CELT selects podcast episodes related to teaching and learning and hosts a podcast club. Each meeting lasts for one hour and provides participants the opportunity to discuss the book or podcast episodes with colleagues.

CELT Podcast Club - Fall 2026
The Committee for Excellence in Learning and Teaching (CELT) invites you to participate in the Fall 2026 podcast club "Let's Discuss!"
Over the course of the semester we will listen to podcasts which overview different discussion techniques, focus on specific discussion strategies, and give guidance on leading contentious conversations in your classroom. Each podcast will be paired with a short text.
During the semester, we will meet to discuss the episodes. There will be a virtual option and an in-person meeting option each time. Attend the option that works best for your schedule.

Yoonhee KimCELT Book Club - Spring 2027
We invite you to join members of the Committee for Excellence in Learning and Teaching (CELT) for the 2027 spring book club where we will read and discuss The Present Professor: Authenticity and Transformational Teaching by Elizabeth Norell.
The Present Professor explores the role of authenticity and presence in creating meaningful and transformative learning experiences. The book encourages educators to consider how showing up as their authentic selves can strengthen connections with students and shape their teaching practice.
Twice during the semester, we will meet to discuss the reading. Attend the meeting option that works best for your schedule.

APSCUF-BIPOC Faculty Alliance Faculty Advance Book Club - Spring 2027
The Teaching and Learning Center (TLC) is sponsoring the APSCUF-BIPOC Faculty Alliance (BFA) Faculty Advance Book Club, facilitated by BFA co-chairs Janet Chang and Tiffany Jones. The BFA is a permanent committee of APSCUF at WCU, serving as a point of advocacy and resource for BIPOC faculty.
How do we make diversity work amidst tensions? Join us in conversation and gain insights from others as we discuss Dr. Claude Steele’s new book Churn: The Tension That Divides Us and How to Overcome It.
