Teaching and Learning
There are many ways that the Center for GIS and Spatial Analysis supports the teaching and learning of geospatial technologies. Programs are targeted both to College and University partners, as well as our Community Partners. Interested in learning more? Consider the following resources:
WCU Degrees and Certificates
The Geography and Planning Department offers a Master of Science (MS) in Geography and a Master of Urban and Regional Planning. GIS is integrated into each program.
The Department also offers a Graduate Certificate in GIS. This 12-credit program can be completed on its own, or as a companion certificate to another Graduate program such as MS Geoscience, Master of Public Health (MPH), Master of Public Administration (MPA), Doctor of Public Administration, and others. Courses in the GIS Certificate program are offered both on-line and in the classroom.
While all students in the BS Geography and BS Urban & Environmental Planning programs develop foundational-level GIS skills, undergraduate students interested in deeper learning of GIS can pursue the BS Geography: GIS Track.
There are two undergraduate minor options that are designed as companions to another undergraduate degree: Minor in Business GIS and GIS Minor
