Weather Alert Notification: General
Please call WCU's Information Line at 610-436-1000. Please do not call Public Safety for class delays or cancellations as such calls will tie up phone lines needed for emergencies.
Pleas Note: Severe weather events that may require those on campus to take shelter will be categorized as Priority 1 Major Emergency and assessment and response to severe weather events will be conducted within the framework of the WCU Emergency Operations Plan .

Communication Timing
Announcements regarding daytime classes, delayed openings, or University closings will generally be publicized by 6:00 a.m. Announcements regarding evening classes will generally be publicized by 1:00 p.m. Evening classes are defined as those classes starting at 4 PM or thereafter.
On Monday, Wednesday, or Friday mornings, a one-hour delay means that the 8 a.m. class is canceled. A two-hour delay means that both the 8 a.m. and 9 a.m. classes are canceled.
On Tuesday or Thursday mornings, either a 90-minute delay or class cancellation will be called.
Essential Personnel
Although classes may be delayed or canceled, all essential personnel must report on their regular schedule.
Events and Other WCU-Related Functions
Generally, should adverse weather conditions make it inadvisable to operate the University, all University-related events or functions will also be canceled. The WCU homepage will carry the most up-to-date and specific information regarding event cancellation or postponement notices.
Persons attending events scheduled to occur at the University by non-University organizations should contact their event organizer for cancellation information.
