Adjunct Faculty
                                 			Joseph M. Di Bussolo, Ph.D.
Joseph M. Di Bussolo, Ph.D., gave the very first Pharmaceutical Product Development
lecture in January of 2002. That lecture on the history of the pharmaceutical industry
was soon followed by a lecture on the process of drug discovery and development. Joe
gave a third lecture on the role of analytical chemistry in the pharmaceutical industry.
As an Adjunct Professor, Dr. Di Bussolo has given updated versions of these PPD lectures
each year. Joe has lectured on bio-analytical chemistry and chromatography topics
for the chemistry and biology departments of West Chester University of Pennsylvania
                                 since 1994.

Joe earned his B.S. degree in clinical chemistry at West Chester University in 1977. In 1982, he received a Ph.D. degree in biological sciences from Drexel University in Philadelphia. Joe spent most of the next 20 years in the development and support of various analytical instruments and software products for the PerkinElmer Corporation. For a few years, he was involved with the development and marketing of chromatography media for the PQ Corporation. In 2002, Joe was appointed by Cohesive Technologies as Director of their Field Applications Laboratory at West Chester University. The laboratory is equipped with advanced chromatographic and spectrometry instrumentation. With the help of WCU chemistry and biology students, Dr. Di Bussolo has developed, presented and published various pharmaceutical and clinical research applications of turbulent-flow liquid chromatography coupled to tandem mass spectrometry (TFLC-MS/MS). In 2006, Cohesive Technologies was acquired by Thermo Fisher Scientific. Joe continues to develop TFLC-MS/MS methods for local pharmaceutical clients such as Merck (West Point, PA), Wyeth (Collegeville, PA), GlaxoSmithKline (Collegeville & Upper Merion, PA) as well as for clinical reference laboratories at the Mayo Clinic (Rochester, MN). In the process, he has mentored and helped many students get jobs at such laboratories.

                                 			James H. Geddes
Mr. Geddes has over 35 years of senior domestic and international management experience
in the pharmaceutical/biotechonolgy industry. In his career, Mr. Geddes held senior
management positions with SmithKline (now GlaxoSmithKline) where he was responsible
for the launch and establishment of "Tagamet", the industry's first $1 billion product.
Later, he established and headed the first Managed Care program in the industry growing
this concept into a $500 million business in just three years. Mr. Geddes was recruited
by Centocor (now a J&J company) to establish staff and manage Marketing, Sales and
Customer Service Departments for this new global biotechnology company. He also managed
International Operations headquartered in The Netherlands. Subsequently, Mr. Geddes
joined Cytogen Corporation, another start-up biotechnology company, where he headed
up Strategic Planning, Business Development, Sales and Marketing. Later, Mr. Geddes
became President of Barnett International a pharmaceutical/biotechnology focused consulting,
education and training company. Under his direction, Barnett International grew from
a staff of 15 to 65, and saw revenues grow from $4 million to $35 million. Following
his retirement from Barnett International in 2003, Mr. Geddes was recruited to turn
around a badly distressed privately owned metal company. As President & CEO of Alliance
Metals, Inc., in 3 months Mr. Geddes was able to return the company to profitability
and avoid bankruptcy. Mr. Geddes realigned management and operating structure, consolidated
operations, inventory and staff and installed needed infrastructure to reposition
the company for long-term sustainability. Today, Alliance Metals is a profitable $65
million business with 85 employees in 4 U.S. locations.
