Join internationally acclaimed vibraphonist, composer, educator, and innovator Stefon Harris for an inspiring masterclass as part of the 100 Years of Jazz Celebration. Recognized as one of the most influential voices in contemporary jazz, Harris has earned multiple Grammy nominations and DownBeat Critics Poll honors for his groundbreaking artistry and commitment to musical excellence.

In this engaging and interactive session, students, musicians, and jazz enthusiasts will gain insight into Harris’s creative process, artistic philosophy, and approach to improvisation, collaboration, and performance. Drawing from a distinguished career as a performer, bandleader, and educator, Harris will share valuable perspectives on the evolution of jazz and the skills needed to thrive as a modern musician.

Come dance the night away with an Alumni Dance Band and current Criterions! Join Dean Chris Hanning, Director and Jazz Studies Jonathan Ragonese and the entire Criterions community as we dance to the sounds of the Big Band Era of the Criterions Jazz Ensemble

Stefon Harris has been named DownBeat Critics Poll Vibraphonist of the Year multiple times and has been heralded as “one of the most important young artists in jazz” (Los Angeles Times). He is one of the most sought-after musicians and educators in the world. He joins the Criterions to celebrate their rich legacy and usher them into the future. An all-star Alumni band will perform alongside Stefon, and the current Criterions Jazz Ensemble.
