Housing Checklist
for new residents
After you have completed the housing application, there are several tasks to complete:
1 Roommate Matching
WCU Managed Housing selection will open mid-March and the priority deadline for consideration will be June 8, 2026. Students interested in requesting a preferred roommate or searching for a roommate should follow these steps:
- To access the WCU Managed Roommate Matching Page between mid-March and June 8, 2026:
- Log in to RamPortal
- Locate the “Housing & Dining” card and click on “Housing & Dining”.
- Click on “Application for On-Campus Living” at the top of the page and select the Academic Year 2026-2027 term session to apply.
- Complete all necessary elements of the application including, but not limited to: Emergency Contact, On Campus Prerequisite Form, Meal Plan Selection, Community Living Standards review, Alcohol EDU and Title IX Modules
- Choose WCU Managed as your preferred housing provider
- Complete the questions on the Roommate Matching Lifestyle Questionnaire
USH Affiliated Housing roommate selection will open in early May 2026.
- Students that have selected USH Affiliated Housing as their preferred housing provider should continue to monitor their email and utilize the USH Resident Portal for updates.
2 Select/Receive your Housing Assignment
For WCU Managed Housing, you will be assigned a residence hall utilizing your WCU Managed Housing Application answers. WCU Managed Housing Assignments will be sent to students’ WCUPA emails in mid-to-late June.
For USH Affiliated Housing, students will select a residence hall. Please continue to monitor your email and utilize the USH Resident Portal for updates.
3 Select a move-in timeslot
New students (new first year students and transfer students): Move-in timeslot selections opens on Wednesday, July 16, 2025, at 10:00am (EST)
Returning students: Move-in timeslot selection opens on Thursday, July 17, 2025, at 10:00am (EST)
Move-in timeslot availability is first come, first serve. If you do not select a move-in timeslot by 4pm on August 1, 2025, a move-in timeslot will be assigned to you.
How to select a move-in timeslot for WCU Managed Housing:

How to select a move-in timeslot for USH Affiliated Housing:
- Instructions will be provided closer to July 2025.
4 Upload a Photo for your Ram Card
New students (new first year students and transfer students): Move-in timeslot selection opens on Wednesday, July 15, 2026, at 12:00pm (EST)
Returning students: Move-in timeslot selection opens on Thursday, July 16, 2026, at 12:00pm (EST)
Move-in timeslot availability is first come, first serve. If you do not select
a move-in timeslot by 4pm on August 3, 2026, a move-in timeslot will be assigned to
you.

5 Upload a Photo for your Ram Card
Your Ram Card (student I.D. card) provides you access to your residence hall, meal plan/Flex/Ram Bucks, library, student recreation center, campus events, and more.
You must successfully upload your Ram Card photo to receive your Ram Card on move-in day at check-in.
6 Pack and prepare for move-in day

7 Move-in Day
It’s time to move into your new home!
First-Year students and transfer students move-in August 20 and August 21, 2026.
Returning students and students living in on-campus apartments move-in August 22 and August 23, 2026.
Move-in timeslot selections opens in mid-July.
