school social work certificate overview

West Chester University’s School Social Work Certificate program prepares students to provide educational, behavioral, and mental health services in the school and community settings.  This certificate program is taught by faculty experts in youth, trauma, and school social work practice and includes curriculum centered around school-based assessments, intervention, evaluation, policy, and practice.  Two out of three of the MSW program electives can be used toward the certificate program so that students can simultaneously earn their MSW and the WCU-issued school certificate.  WCU’s School Social Work Certificate program is approved by the Pennsylvania Department of Education.  Upon graduation from WCU, students are eligible to apply for social work licensure with the state and can subsequently apply for the PA School Social Worker Educational Specialist credential.
