Bio
Dr. Daniela Johannes, originally from Chile, obtained her Ph.D from The University of Arizona on Spanish and Border Studies. She teaches classes on Latinos and Latin American Studies, Women's and Gender Studies, and Spanish. Her research focuses on the dynamic relationship between individually motivated actions, modes of security and material culture as it takes place in U.S-Mexico Border. She recently published a piece entitled “Border Architectures: Nature, Technology and Humanness in the Sonoran Desert.” At WCU she serves at the Executive Committee for the Ethnic Studies Institute, and is co-director for the Latino Communities Conference.
