Biography

As a Full Professor of Economics at West Chester University, I focus my research efforts in areas where I can involve student researchers and bring research into my classrooms. I have assembled a diverse and interdisciplinary portfolio of externally-funded research projects that have led to numerous academic conference presentations and peer-reviewed publications. My commitment to students is evident in my sustained support of their research experiences while at WCU. Throughout all of my research projects, I set aside grant funds or apply for internal grants to fund student research assistants. Students learn about the IRB process, developing a research protocol, cleaning data, administering surveys, analyzing data, coding, and communicating findings. These are invaluable experiences for students and are often used as a springboard for the next step in their careers, whether in business or graduate school. Many students remark that much of their job interviews have been spent discussing their experience with statistical analysis and oral/written communications from their research. My recent projects include studying the economic impacts of community colleges in PA, the economic impacts of PA's Beer Industry, medical cost trends in ACL repairs, the effects of SAT-optional policies, and the effects of cities on entrepreneurship.
