Biography

Zara Khan earned her Ph.D. with Distinction in Political Science from the City University of New York Graduate Center in the fields of Political Theory and Comparative Politics (2016). She is currently an Adjunct Professor in Political Science at West Chester University. Her teaching focuses on Western political philosophy and political economy, with additional expertise in U.S.-Latin America relations and the politics of religion. Khan's first research project looked at Muslim thought in relation to human rights. Her second project is looking at the War on Drugs in relation to the War on Terror. From Palestine to Colombia to Brooklyn - Khan likes to study how wealth, power, ideas, and resources connect and animate us all. She has served as Associate Editor and Department Head in Contemporary Thought and Politics with Yaqeen Institute for Islamic Research. Khan also conducted field work in Occupied West Bank with the New York Solidarity Movement for a Free Palestine (2003).
