Join us in celebration of the nation’s 250th anniversary!
As the tea dust rose above the water of Boston Harbor following the 1773 rebellion, colonists had to find a replacement for their English tea. The colonists swore off imported tea from the British and began to drink what they called 'Liberty Teas' instead. They used herbs, flowers, and fruits to make their home blends. It was a momentous time, a momentous tea.
At our Liberty Tea party, you will have the opportunity to blend your own “Liberty Tea” and nibble on some classic tea party fare. Try your hand at a colonial craft and step up in a lively colonial dance or two. Meet Vanessa Peterson from the Elverson Garden Club and learn about herbs and other plants used to make faux teas, and how to fill your garden with plants to make your own “Liber’teas”.
