Methcathinone
Gold Bromide (HAuBr4)
Methcathinone in the acidic gold bromide reagent gives small, orange x-shaped crosses that are better characterized under higher magnifications as shown in images 3 and 4 above. The crystals form abundantly with methcathinone amounts below 10 μg.
Platinic Bromide (H2PtBr6)
Two forms of crystals are observed for methcathinone with platinic bromide reagent. The first formed crystals are the abundant orange rectangular flat plates. Also observed are tight sheaves of short red needles. Both forms can be observed simultaneously after 5 minutes of crystal growth.
