Curriculum Vitae

Amy Carter holds a Master of Music Education with Kodály Emphasis from Capital University and a Bachelor of Music in Music Education from Westminster Choir College, where she completed all four levels of Kodály certification. During her Kodály studies at Westminster, she had the privilege of studying with master teachers Jean Sinor, Susan Brumfield, Carol Brown, Sean Deibler, and David Vinden. As part of her graduate work, she also attended the International Kodály Summer Seminar at the Kodály Institute in Kecskemét, Hungary, deepening her understanding of Kodály inspired pedagogy.

An active presenter and choral clinician at the local, state, and national levels, Amy is widely recognized for her engaging and practical workshops grounded in the Kodály philosophy. She has taught Levels I, III and IV in the Kodály certification program at West Chester University and has served as a guest lecturer and workshop leader for teacher training programs across the country. Her professional leadership includes service on the Organization of American Kodály Educators (OAKE) National Board, and she is a Past President of both the OAKE Eastern Division and Kodály New Jersey. In recognition of her significant contributions to the field, she received the OAKE Outstanding Contributions Award.

Amy previously taught in the Pennsbury School District in Pennsylvania and currently teaches elementary general music and choir in the West Windsor-Plainsboro Regional School District, where she was named the 2014 Governor’s Teacher of the Year. In addition to her school teaching, she and her husband, Ken, direct the children’s choirs at the First Presbyterian Church of Dutch Neck.
