Choral Music in Motion: Foundations of Contemporary A Cappella - MWC 536

August 3 - August 7, 2026
In Person - 3 Credits

This graduate-level course offers an in-depth exploration of contemporary a cappella, investigating foundational scaffolding of the history of a cappella, contemporary applications, singing and vocal percussion techniques, group formation and structure, arrangement analysis and composition strategies, and audio production. Whether students look to begin a high school program or professional group or simply learn more about the craft, this course provides theoretical knowledge, critical listening sessions, rehearsal simulations, and compositional opportunities so musicians who have not yet been exposed to contemporary a cappella have a robust understanding of the art form.
