Graduate Post-Baccalaureate Certificate
in Universal Design for Learning and Assistive Technology

Overview

The certificate in Universal Design for Learning and Assistive Technologies provides professionals, parents, and other community members instruction and training in assessment, pedagogy, and technology that support students that rely on UDL and AT for learning. The UDL/AT graduate certificate is based on the following assumptions:

  • With UDL and/or AT support, students of all abilities can reach their potential
  • Practitioners who use UDL and/or AT must understand concepts, how to assess, and implement best practices
  • Multidisciplinary teams must collaborate to support student who utilize AT must collaborate
  • Knowledge in UDL/AT requires course work, guided observation, and supervised practicum

Area of Concentration in Universal Design and Assistive Technology (18 Credits)

  • EDA 542:Foundations of Special Education
  • EDA/EDT 517: Technology and Universal Design for Learning
  • EDA/EDT 519: Introduction to Assistive Technology
  • EDA/SPP 521: Assistive Technologies for Communication and Participation
  • EDA 522: Integrating Assistive Technology
  • EDT 500: Integrating Educational Technology for Effective Teaching and Learning

Career Opportunities

This program offers training for general and special educators, counselors, therapists, caregivers, and any others persons whom assist students that utilize AT. The program can also serve as an introduction to interested degree seeking students in the areas of education, social work, communication disorders, and psychology.

  • Arrange to have one (1) complete undergraduate transcript and proof of a baccalaureate degree sent to the Graduate Office. The transcript should include the cumulative grade point average of all undergraduate work.
