On April 18, 2024, the Xi Omega Chapter of Pi Delta Phi inducted 14 outstanding students. Congratulations to them for their hard work!
Pi Delta Phi is the National French Honor Society for undergraduate and graduate students at accredited public and private colleges and universities in the United States. The highest academic honor in the field of French and the oldest academic honor society for a modern foreign language in the United States, Pi Delta Phi was founded as a departmental honor society at the University of California at Berkeley in 1906.
The purpose of the Society is to recognize outstanding scholarship in the French language and Francophone literatures, to increase the knowledge and appreciation of Americans for the cultural contributions of the French-speaking world, and to stimulate and to encourage French and francophone cultural activities.
In order to be eligible for nomination, undergraduate students must be sophomores, must have completed at least one semester of a 300-level or higher course in French, have a current minimum GPA of 3.0 in French 3.0 overall, and rank in the top 35% of their class. National one-time dues for a lifetime membership are also required, for which students receive the Pi Delta Phi pin, certificate, and one set of graduation honor cords in blue, white and red.
