What is digital humanities?

Digital Humanities (DH) and New Media is a program where students explore how humanities research and digital technology come together to inform, inspire and enrich each other.  Our classes help students connect the ubiquitous digital media we each encounter every day to our critical understanding of what it means to be human. We engage with a wide variety of digital tools, from humble HTML to cutting-edge AI, gaining new perspectives on them, the cultures that made them, and the ways in which they can reveal patterns in culture, history, and media.

Along the way, students build new skills and literacies, leaving DHM courses with transferable technical skills that extend well beyond the college classroom.

DHM faculty represent a variety of disciplines from across the campus, each emphasizing their own distinct expertise and helping students understand important issues from an interdisciplinary perspective.
