Confidential Document Shredding

WCU provides confidential document shredding using PROSHRED, a local shredding vendor. There are two variations of shredding services offered by WCU; “Recurring Service” and “As Needed”.  Document shredding is a billable service, so customers can help reduce their costs by filling the provided containers with only confidential documents and using the recycling process for all non-confidential materials.

Recurring Service – This service is for those departments who see an ongoing need for confidential shredding. For this service, the customer will reach out to the Business Services Administrative Assistant. A new account form will be completed and a PROSHRED provided bin will be delivered and placed in a secure location within the department for regular service. The customer agrees to a regular shredding schedule of either 4 wks. or 8 wks., at which time PROSHRED comes to our campus and shreds the contents of the bins, which then remain in place after being emptied.

As Needed Service – This service is used for various one-time needs. One example of this is when employees leave the university, and their office documents need to be cleaned out. For this, a WCU provided tote is delivered to the desired location by Facilities Moving Services. The customer fills the tote on their timeline. Once filled, the customer contacts the BSAA representative, who then adds the shredding to the regularly scheduled PROSHRED service day. Once shredding has taken place, Moving Services picks up the empty tote, returning it to Moving Services storage.

Requesting Service

There are two processes that can be used for requesting Confidential Document Shredding services.

  1. Contact the Business Services Administrative Assistant directly, who will discuss the specifics of your requirements, and document your Department SAP account number, as document shredding is a billable service. You can also fill out the New Account Form online which submits the form electronically to the BSAA representative, who will then contact you to review your request.
  2. Customers can alternatively submit requests through the iServiceDesk Work Request portal by selecting the "Moving Service" button. Once Facilities processes a submitted work request, the BSAA office is automatically notified, and a representative will contact you to review your requirements.
